The Chinese language embassy in Colombo states that ‘some essential progress’ with regard to Sri Lanka’s pressing want for COVID-19 vaccines could be introduced quickly.
In a Tweet, the embassy notes that the Chinese language Ambassador to Sri Lanka – Mr. Qi Zhenhong had assured the island’s President and Prime Minister that China attaches nice significance to Sri Lanka’s pressing want for vaccine.
“Some essential progress could be introduced in coming days,” the Tweet provides.
A consignment of 600,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine was granted to Sri Lanka in March 2021 and after the WHO listed the COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in early Could, the doses have been extensively used for the vaccination programme in Western Province, along with Russia’s Sputnik V jab.
Sri Lanka noticed a large surge of instances after April and extra civilians have been seen queuing as much as be vaccinated.
