The Counter Improvised Explosive Gadgets (C-IED) Go to Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) Course performed by Sri Lanka Navy’s Particular Boat Squadron (SBS) below thesupervision of World Maritime Crime Programme of United Nations Workplace on Medication and Crime (UNODC) efficiently concluded in Trincomalee on nineteenth February 2021.
The target of the course was to impart trainees a complete data on VBSS Operations, Boarding Crew Process and Maritime Regulation Enforcement Operations
(MLEO) particularly in doable IED environments. The course performed by instructors of Particular Boat Squadron and mentors from UNODC was held for 2 weeks in
Trincomalee, with the participation of 24 personnel from Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
On profitable completion of the course its contributors have been awarded certificates and the event was attended by Deputy Head of World Maritime Crime Programme, Ms. Siri
Bjune, Deputy Space Commander Japanese Naval Space, Commodore Anura Danapala, Commanding Officer Particular Boat Squadron Captain Nishshanka Wickramasinghe, maritime
regulation enforcement mentors from UNODC and instructors from Particular Boat Squadron.
In the meantime, the course and certificates awarding ceremony have been held adhering to COVID -19 protocols which might be in place to comprise the unfold of the COVID-19 pandemic.
